A cry from my heart and a promise from God

Just a couple more poems from me.

I cry out again

Lord, I’m scared
I’m paralysed with fear
All hope has fled
All joy has vanished.
I cry out to you again.
Oh Lord please hear me
Forgive me, cleanse me
Have your victory
Restore my soul
Lead me in your way
Please take my hand
Strengthen my feeble heart
Guide me, Lord, I pray.
For you alone are God
You have all power
The victory is yours
Do not abandon me I pray.

His promise

I will shelter and protect you
I will never fail you
This is my promise to you.
Though you feel you are failing
My arms will support you
My strength will sustain you,
My child, do not fret or worry
I know you through and through
I will be with you
I will have the victory
I will not leave.
Be strong in me when you have no strength
Be secure in me when you are feeling weak
Be safe in me when the storm surrounds
Be at peace in me when your are troubled
For I am here beside you
I love you my child
Be still, be sure, be strong

Caught in a storm

Caught in a storm

Caught up in a vortex of emotion,

Reality and firm ground wavering

Floundering amidst the swirling tide

My feet unable to find firm ground

Lord don’t lose me in this whirlpool

As confusion and grief surround,

Please keep your hand of power upon me

Stop me from drowning in this storm.

Calm the wind and waves of my emotions

Bring me through to solid ground.

I am crying out to you, come save me

Steer my course, direct my ways

I’m pleading Lord, help me to see you

Feel your presence, hear your voice

I lift my arms out to be rescued

I’m trusting you’ll not let me drown

discarded wineskin

Discarded wineskin   (with reference to Psalm 119: 81-83)

A wineskin in the smoke

Used up, useless, discarded

That’s how I feel now Lord.

When will you come to help?

I need your help so much -

Your presence as sorrow overwhelms.

The pus and poison pour from the open wound

Only you can heal and cleanse me.

Take this discarded used up wineskin

I wait for you to come and help

To fill renew and cover me

I cry out for your presence, for your word

Where are you Lord? please come and help me

Poems from an up and down week....by Rosemary

This week has been a bit up and down, and the downs were just about as low as they get, to the point of feeling like giving up. Yet through the depression, weariness and tears God still keeps his hand on me. When I can't 'see' him through the gloom and my mind plays tricks on my logic and reason, then His 'Rod and Staff' still comfort me. When all I can do is cry out, his hand is there to strengthen me and help me carry on. The weariness doesn't necessarily vanish, but I am not alone.

The following are two poems from this week's struggle. They may be a bit rough around the edges, but maybe they will resonate and hopefully encourage someone else, somewhere, sometime, somehow.

Waves

Waves of despair wash over me
I am so close, so close to giving up
Logic and sense fight through the darkness
Only to be washed away in helplessness
Oh Lord, I cry out to you
I cannot carry on
I long so much for quick escape
From this ache deep in my heart
Weariness and sadness leak from my eyes
Anger and frustration too
As I face my weakness once again
Lord I need some light from you
I need your help so much my God
Don’t let go through all my gloom
Stay always ever at my side
Change the waves to those of mercy soon.

Longing

Oh to see your beauty Lord
To recognise your face
To understand and hear your voice
To frolic in your grace
Oh Lord, to walk close by your side
To feel your presence near
And to experience your love
Free from all doubts and fears
I long to know you’re really here
Your evidence to show
So others see and sense and hear
And long to know you too
